Volvo ECC

The Volvo Environmental Concept Car (ECC) built in 1992 was a milestone in many ways. This hybrid electric/gas turbine-powered vehicle was designed from the start as an exercise in the use of recycled materials, and engineered with and eye toward environmental sustainability in every phase of its construction. Volvo calculated the environmental impact for the vehicle in its entirety, from how the electricity used to charge its battery systems was generated down to how the recycling infrastructure would handle all of the components used in its manufacture.
